Things to do

Devon is full of possibilities! The county is home to two beautiful coastlines, five official Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and two National Parks. There is so much to see and do, you may not want to leave!

Spend a day at the beach

Devon is home to a wide variety of beaches, from sweeping landscapes to surfing beaches.

Discover Exeter

Parts of Exeter city centre date back to Roman times, with most of the original Roman wall still remaining. However, it also boasts a superb high street, cobbled side streets and squares housing high street and independent shops and boutiques. If you’re looking for a relaxing cultural getaway with plenty of opportunity for retail therapy, then Exeter’s the place for you.

Host to a fabulous array of things to do and places to stay, Torquay, Paignton and Brixham as an area are known as the English Riviera, thanks to its palm trees, beaches and family holiday atmosphere.

The area’s steeped in maritime history and plays host to a number of sporting events and festivals, including the Riviera’s own regatta, and has some fantastic places to eat. It also has its own UNESCO-stamped Geopark, where visitors can explore a unique ecosystem and take part in a variety of unusual activities.

Action and adventure

 Watersports

It’ll come as no surprise when we tell you that, in Devon, you can take part in pretty much any watersport that you can think of. World-famous for our surfing beaches (Croyde, Woolacombe and Saunton, to name just a few), our love of water and all the fun that can be had in it extends to kayaking, canoeing, rowing, windsurfing, coasteering, paddleboarding, kitesurfing … and many more.

 Trails

There’s something so freeing about setting out on a trail – whether that’s walking, bike or horse – and just following where it will take you. We’ve plenty of these across Devon, as well as brilliantly set up assault courses and adventure trails.

Surfing

Devon's also known for its great surf and watersports - some of our beaches are known for being great for beginners, whilst others are best for those with more experience.

 Great days out

Other great days out include Crealy Great Adventure Park, the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery, Exeter Cathedral, Powderham Castle, and the World of Country Life.
